We had an amazing June Installation and Awards luncheon this year! In addition to swearing-in and welcoming our new 2014-2015 Board, we announced that Dee Fringer was chosen as our 2014 Paralegal of the Year, Amber Brewer was chosen as our 2014 Outstanding Member of the Year, and Bobbie Miller, Kristen Foster, Michelle Dunn, and Amber Brewer were each awarded a scholarship this year. Please join me in congratulating each of these individuals on their accomplishments within the paralegal profession!
July is the beginning of our new year! Our first luncheon is our Members Ethics Luncheon—we’ll have Jean Keleher and Christine Randall speaking about the Keeping the Record and we’ll be giving a free luncheon and offering one hour of ethics MCLE for our members. Please make sure you contact Sasha Gadberry to reserve your spot!
During the month of July, we will be collecting cash donations to benefit the Heart Gallery, through Kern Partnership for Children and Families. Please remember to bring your donations to the July luncheon or contact Kristen Foster if you would like to make a donation.
As it is the beginning of our new year, it also means it’s time to renew your membership to KCPA, or sign up for the first time! The application and sample declaration, if needed, can be found on our website at: https://kcpaonline.org/kcpa-forms/. If you have any questions regarding membership to KCPA, please contact Shontice Yates.
A quick update on KCSC’s Court News. There was a new fee schedule posted July 1, 2014, including a $20 fee will be charged for offsite retrieval of records, postage fees will be charged for copy orders delivered via U.S. Mail, and copies will be available on a compact disc. As a reminder, always remember to check the court’s current fee schedule in case it has changed.
The Board’s retreat is scheduled for July 19. If you have anything you’d like the Board to discuss or consider, please contact me by July 14. We are looking forward to the new year and hope you’ll help us make it the most successful yet!
