Generous is the word that comes to mind when I think of the Kern County legal community. This was evident at the annual KCBA/KCPA Holiday luncheon held in December at the Petroleum Club. The luncheon was a festive occasion with about 150 people in attendance. We were serenaded by Therese Muller and Santa Claus made an appearance. The generosity of the legal community was confirmed by the multitude of toys that were donated by the attendees to be delivered to the Jamison Center and the more than $4,000 that was raised to be shared equally between the KCBA Charitable Foundation and Christmas for Seniors of Kern County.
Thank you to everyone who gave of their time, donated items, and bought tickets for the “opportunity drawing.” A special thank you goes out to Chad Barger for singing our National Anthem and to Pat Jennison for the lovely invocation.
We look forward to our KCPA general meeting on January 12, 2107, and the presentation by the Honorable Sidney Chapin.
As Father Time ushers out the old year, the baby dances her way into the New Year by the tune of Auld Lang Syne, we list our New Year’s resolutions, and eat our black eyed peas, my wish is that 2017 brings good tidings to each of you.
