2017/18 will be our 30th year as an organization. Thank you to those of you who have served on the KCPA board in the last 29 years and have paved the way for all of us who count on our organization for relevant continuing education and networking.
As I look back on the 2016/17 year, I am so thankful to have worked with the individuals on the Executive Board. Almost everyone who served was in a new position. A BIG thank you goes out to the entire board for pulling together and getting everything done. I’d like to specifically recognize those who are not returning to the board this next year. Kayleen Clements, Programs Director, gave us wonderful presentations; our monthly meetings were interesting and well organized. It’s no wonder our attendance was up. Heidi Carvalho, Newsletter Director, did a fantastic job on presenting timely articles that were interesting. So many people made comments about how great the newsletter was this past year. Michelle Clemans, Public Information Officer, did a wonderful job keeping us all informed of KCPA happenings by updating our Facebook page and was at our meetings each and every month to interface with the speakers regarding their PowerPoint presentations. Thank you to Kayleen, Heidi and Michelle for your service. I will miss working with you.
On that note, I must mention that we are still looking for a Programs Director and Public Information Officer. If you are interested in serving on the board, please contact me without delay. Your assistance in needed!
Finally, a reminder that the California Alliance of Paralegal Associations (CAPA) Educational Conference is being held in Visalia on June 24, 2017. KCPA is the host this year, together with the Fresno Paralegal Association and the San Diego Paralegal Association. Please go to firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. If you can’t attend, you can still support CAPA by purchasing an opportunity drawing ticket for $1.00, available at all of our general meetings through June 8th, or by contacting one of your board members. We will have the opportunity drawing for the KCPA margarita basket at our meeting on June 8th, plus each ticket will be entered into the CAPA opportunity drawing for a chance of winning one of twelve $100 gifts donated by each of the associations who are members of CAPA.
I look forward to celebrating our 30th year.
